Oh my god I can't believe this topic didn't excist yet!
Fire away.. Here are my favorite things to do in Amsterdam!
Fetishshops;
Besides the known fetisshops such as DeMask and Absolute Danny in the red light district, there are quite a few other cute little shops in Amsterdam for us fetishists, such as latexshopXarina(.nl) who make their own latex sheeting and Diabolo(.nl) which is more goth-oriented.
For the ones with other kinky interests besides fashion there are a lot of sexshops in the red light disctrict that offer bdsm equiptment, some I can recommend, but others are overpriced and have bad quality stuff. An extremely good bdsm-shop is Mr. B in the warmoesstraat, although it is originally for gays, they sell very good quality stuff for heterosexuals too and the service is always super nice. Another great gay shop just openened in the same street, called Rob and although their collection is a bit more limited, they have great mens fetishwear and quality bdsm toys as well.
Can't forget to mention Webers (www.webersholland.nl) that sells nice sexy ladies wear. Another one of my personal favorites is Paars Lingerie (www.paarslingerie.nl) for unique sheer stockings of 7denier and a selection of gorgeous lingerie, corsets and a bit of bedroom-fetishwear. It is conveniently in the same street as Female&partners (www.femaleandpartners.nl/), a kinky female-friendly sexshop.
Fetishparties
Holland is flooded with great fetishparties at the moment, especially in wintertime the options are endless. Best way to find out what parties are on in Amsterdam during your trip is to go to www.altparty.net and check out the calender, which can be compared to the site londonfetishscene. Best parties right now are Boudoir Bizarre, Wasteland and Dominatrix, or Scandal or Siberia if you like smaller parties. Most parties are held close to Amsterdam, but there are some great parties more south of Holland as well.
Cheesy touristy stuff you can't miss;
- Pancake houses or any other typical dutch food places. A good one is De Blonde Hollander (The blonde dutchman) but you can find other nice places to eat on www.iens.nl , which lists and rates every possible restaurant in Holland. If you like sweet dessert ask for "poffertjes" and if you're in the mood for a meaty snack while you're in the city try bitterballen or Hema rookworst .
- Coffeeshops; This is an excellent chance to be a good law-obeying citizen and enjoy herbal stimuli at the same time! Even if you don't smoke, there are other options to broaden your experience with spacecake (yum!) or mushrooms (but look out for those... make sure you are well-informed first!). And even if you are like me and you are not at all interested in getting doped, I'd stilll recommend stepping into a coffeeshop just for some coffee, just because you can and often they're nicely decorated with a good atmoshpere.
- Museums; If you have smoked weed or taken a few mushrooms, and excellent activity is to go to a museum and look at all the pretty paintings! Holland has such a rich history in painters and artists.. Not to miss Rembrandt and ofcourse Van Gogh. There are often held nice exhibits in De nieuwe kerk on Damsquare in the citycenter. Another one you cannot miss is the sexmuseum and the museum of torture! Especially the sexmuseum is quite interesting and unique to Amsterdam. Another fun thing to do on a cold winterday is to visit the Amsterdam Dungeon (no it's not kinky! more like a big spookyhouse) or waxmuseum Madame Tussaud. Both very cheesy but lots of fun anyway.
Other then that there are ofcourse lots of boatrides through the canals, which are very very pretty, you can experience what it's like to be Dutch for a day by renting a bike and driving through the city, visit old windmills or go see the tulipfields outside of Amsterdam.
Another fun thing to do is stroll one of the many marketplaces Amsterdam has to offer such as the ancient "Albert Cuypmarkt" which is there almost every day.
Then ofcourse, I cannot forget the main attraction in the red light disctrict; girls! Although it is propably not the most romantic experience you'll ever have, it's reasonably affordable and very much legal so if you're in for an erotic and slightly seedy 15 minutes, don't be shy to knock on a girls window. Some girls are very very pretty, but you can find whatever floats your boat, big black girls, chicks with dicks, schoolgirls or milfs. Even when paid love is a bit beyond your limits, the red light district is a nice area to walk around in and Casa Rosso's live sexshows can be quite entertaining for the whole family.
What happens in Amsterdam, stays in Amsterdam! |

Ah MC is going to bring the promised beer to Amsterdam! Great!
But as a real dutch, and even more amsterdam guy I need to reply to this topic of course.
First of all the red light district. Seems too obvious but make haste, they are actually trying to get rid of Amsterdams biggest tourist attraction!
As fetish people there are lot's of stores to visit: Demask, Absolute Danny, Xarina, Mister B. and I am probably forgetting a whole lot!
When in Amsterdam just plain sightseeing is great too. Do try to find the "nine streets" and the Haarlemmerstraat. Both have nice authentic stores. And if you do end up in the big shopping streets, do take a look above the shops to see the old housing structures.
Do visit the "begijnhof" as well. A oase of quiteness right in the busiest part of the citycenter.
Ah well I can go on and on and on here. Anyone interested in something particular feel free to ask |

So what district should we aim to stay in that is in easy reach of the "attractions".
Think I will have to google earth the town and check things out.
mc
P.S. Carrying the beer does not make sense but I am willing to pay once I arrive.
P.S.S. I google earthed "Haarlemmerstraat" and I have ended up in a field. |

best distric to stay would be anywhere in the city center. We are a very small town really. In some countries we would be considered a village rather!
A good alternative is "de Pijp" disctric which has a lot of nice café's and is really good for going out. Dunno about the amount of hotels there thoguh! |

I just hope the red light district is still there when I go lol |

I haven't been to Amsterdam but I had heard only good things about the gardens there (the flowers are the most beautiful in Europe from what I have seen), the beers (hell yeah!!!) and of course, the red light district.
I read on the news though some dumbass (sorry for the expression ) bought like 2/3 of it and wants to change it! That's a big no-no!!!
Last but not least, bumping into Ancilla would be a dream come true...! |
